Moderator:  Chuck Wennerlund with Fuller Asset Management

Topic of Discussion:  Using Outside the Box Networking.  Chuck opened the mastermind discussion about his recent visit to an event put on by Ignite Phoenix.  Chuck shared how he met some new and unique people and will use those contacts to help bridge other relationships with folks.  Chuck felt the biggest benefit was to meet people that were very passionate about what and who they are and not what they do.

A Quick Introduction to Guest and Members:

Guest Speaker: Dave Sherman

Dave Sherman talked about the new year and economy.  He felt that we would be in a tough economy for 1-3 years.

Left us tips to become more successful, make more business, how to mix, mingle and schmooze and how to use the Phoenix Business Journal to meet more people.

Networking-  Is based on commonality and like-ability (people do business with people they like).  People who meet you at a networking event are not going to buy your product or service, so why pitch it up front.   A better approach would be to find common interests such as hobbies, favorite sports etc.  Get to common ground as quickly as possible.

A must do is to attend 2 to 3 networking events each week:  a great site is NetworkingPhoenix.  Find the right times to go either morning groups, lunch groups or evening groups.  Find the ones that you fit into and go to them.

Last, stop looking at the end user.  True networking is about creating relationships with the right people who will help you get in front of your correct end user.

Attached is Dave’s website: http://www.davidshermanspeaks.com Dave has a reputation of being a huge power networker in the Phoenix Market and has decided to come and speak to our group. I am asking for all members to Please make this meeting MANDATORY ON 2/2/2010.

2. We are all invited to a huge networking opportunity on February 23, 2010 at the Hilton in Scottsdale 6333 North Scottsdale Rd. Scottsdale, AZ 85250 from 6-9 pm. I encourage all members to also attend this networking opportunity.

Andrew Petersen was the moderator this week. Andrew shared with us the 7 Deadly Sins to Entrepreneurs by Jay Goltz:

1. Sloppy accounting
2. Non-competitive pricing
3. Naive hiring

5. Lack of standards/ quality control
6. Lack of controls/ processes and recreating the same wheel
7. Poor branding
